Welcome to my latest adventure in VR, where the line between virtual and reality blurs, and sometimes, the unexpected happens. I’m Oddly Robbie, and today I’m sharing a tale that’s a bit different from my usual VR escapades.
Imagine a world where the landscapes shift like dreams, and the sky swirls with colors borrowed from a painter’s palette. This is my sanctuary, a place in VR where creativity knows no bounds and the rules of the physical world gently fade away.
That’s me, Oddly Robbie, a wanderer of digital realms, an explorer of virtual frontiers. Here in this world, I find peace, away from the sensory overload of reality, where my autism doesn’t stand out, but blends in with the myriad wonders around.
But not all tales are without their dragons. During one of my explorations, I encountered a fellow traveler, whose words were less than kind, targeting my LGBTQ+ identity. I reached for my shield, the trusty pause button, only to find it had vanished!
There I was, a digital Theseus without his thread, navigating a labyrinth of confusion and frustration. I scrambled through menus and settings, searching for my lost escape route, my heart racing as the virtual world I loved suddenly felt confining.
With no pause button in sight, I did the only thing I could – I ‘de-masked’, stepping back into reality. Once I caught my breath, I reported the incident. The guardians of this virtual realm were swift, and soon, my pause button was back, like a lost treasure rediscovered.
This journey taught me an invaluable lesson: even in worlds of our own making, respect and safety are paramount. It reminded me of the power we hold when we speak up against wrongs, in any world, virtual or real.
